OUR APPROACH IS TO TEACH AND LEARN ABOUT THE CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES THROUGH THE CREATIVE VALUE CHAIN.

We define a value chain as a “sequence of activities during which value is added to a new product or service as it makes its way from invention to final distribution” (Kaplinsky & Morris, 2000). The creative value chains consist of an initial creative idea, which is often combined with other inputs to produce a cultural or creative work, which then moves through a series of interlinked stages before it reaches the final consumer.

These four vertical links, i.e. sequences of activities required to create, produce and disseminate a creative product or service, also give the main structure to the CCI Learning Module.

Hence, the CCI Learning Module Toolbox has four main parts:

TIP:

When creating your own course or training you can include and cover all four parts OR you may choose to teach about only one part and use only the tools in the Toolbox created for that specific part.

For example, you may wish to create a course or training focusing more on the beginning phases of creating a company in the CCI and deal with topics such as creative skills, creative core, self-management, motivation, and copyright. Then you can use the Creator part of the CCI Learning Module Toolbox and tools supporting the Creator part.

On the other hand, some of you may wish to create a course or training focusing on more mature creative companies and their specifics, for which you can use Production, Distribution, and/or Consumption parts. Or if you wish to cover the whole CCI creative value chain you can use all four parts in your course or training.

These decisions are fully up to you and you are free to choose the option that suits your wishes and needs the best.
